When I think back on my trip to Alaska, I think of all of the wonderful animals that we saw on our journey.
Bears, whales, eagles, moose, sea lions, seals, caribou, squirrel, and muskox to name a few. Alaska is a haven for wildlife.
Denali National Park is a must for Alaska if you like wildlife and photography. Planning your visit around the bears being out and about is a wise move.
Denali National Park is 274km (170m) north of the Alaska’s state capital, Anchorage. The park has buses that take you out in search of bears and other wildlife. The scenery was stunning too, autumn colours look beautiful over the rolling hills.
We were lucky enough to see a mother bear and two of her cubs wading through the river next to us.
Glacier Bay National Park is also a fantastic place to see wildlife. We caught a flight from Juneau which is in the southern part of Alaska and stayed in Gustavus for a few nights which was an adorable little town. From there boats go out to see the glacier and all of the wonderful animals in the area.
On an afternoon bike ride, I spotted a black bear in the trees, not far from the road. After a bit of pointing and whispering, it was decided that it wasn’t wise to hand around staring at a bear, and not knowing if I could get away quick enough if it decided to come after us. We lived to tell the tale.
Put Alaska on your list, it is beautiful and take your zoom lens.
